Early Artists: Cave Art |
Cuneiform & Cave ArtOur first lesson in art as a Kindergartener is to learn about the origin of art and expression by studying cave paintings as an ancient form of communication. Students also explore line and shape through exercises in cuneiform to connect art and language.
"Research suggests that when scientists looked closely at a sample of hand stencils, a common motif in cave art, they concluded that about three-quarters were drawn by women." |
"Painting like Pollock" November 3rd-4th
Students will take their canvases to the floor and trade paint brushes for sticks as we explore action painting. We will listen to jazz music while moving around our artwork, getting a sense of what this new form of creation that came about in the mid-1900's by American artist, Jackson Pollock, was all about. Art: Process v. Productas students engage in this activity, they explore the process of creation verses creating with an end product in mind.
